Research & Development Center

Research & Development Center

The Aeronautic Propulsion Research and Development Centre was opened in 2016. The R&DC is a centre of novel technological thought; this is where new models of aircraft engines are developed. For the purpose of the centre, a modern building for the design office was developed, as well as most advanced engine test-houses in Europe, where tests on all types of engines, including APU, are conducted. A prototype workshop was also created and the existing material laboratory and the expertise workshop for the analysis of structural damage were extended.

The R&DC has the unique advantage of having the status of a design office approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), allowing for certification of turbine engines. Only P&W Rzeszów has such a status in Poland.

The R&DC applies state-of-the-art IT and engineering technologies, such as Product Lifecycle Management, enabling the concurrent design of engines in the network with other divisions of the company and partners. A very interesting work method is by means of the formation of IPTs (Integrated Product Teams), essentially interdisciplinary project teams where different specialists from all over the world can cooperate. Engineering cooperation with partners in Japan, India, Germany and Canada allows everyone to learn about their working methods and to draw from the richness of diverse cultures.
