PWA Gears Department
PWA Gears Department is Pratt & Whitney US customer-oriented department. Manufactured gears (SUN, STAR and RING) are the main parts of FDGS (Fan Drive Gear System) gearbox. The department produces gears for two gearbox configurations, for the PW1500G engine and for the PW1100G engine. These engines are used on Airbus A220 and A320neo.
The manufactured parts go to the W41 assembly department (which is part of the MBU), from where, as the final product - a gearbox - they go to the PW US customer on the engine assembly lines. The department also delivers parts for repairs directly to PW US.
